February 28th - Nordic-Trac

In 2007 my Dad bought this at Goodwill on a half price sale day, for $10. I think he used it maybe 3 times and decided it was too loud. Well that Spring I started trying to lose weight and when I moved back home from college it was sitting in my room…. That summer I worked out on this thing almost everyday. It gives a good cardio workout and I basically wore that thing out by the fall when I took it to Purdue for a month or so before I just started using the Co-Rec gym. I got a lot of use out of it, and it played a major part in my weight loss.

February 27th - Basketball Cards

When I was in elementary school through Jr. high I collected basketball cards. Not sure how I got started, but I know my parents and aunt would buy me cards for birthdays and Christmas. I love the thrill of opening up a pack and hoping you get something good, that carried over to my days of playing Magic the Gathering as well. There is just something exciting about opening up a pack. All of my cards would be from the early 90’s through maybe 2000, with not much after that. I doubt I have anything worth too much money outside of some Kobe, KG, Iverson rookies as well as I Shaq rookie I think. Nothing special for a collection but there are probably 10,000 sports cards sitting around my room.

February 26th- Harmonica

I’ve always thought it would be cool to play the harmonica, but have nowhere near the dedication to put in the time it would take to learn to play the instrument. However this is an old harmonica I have in my room, I’m not sure how old it is but it was in a box my Dad bought at some estate sale a long time ago and he gave it to me. One side is in the Key of G and the other is in the key of C, it looks pretty worn and I know it’s old. But yeah I’ll probably never learn to play one, just don’t have the patience for it.

February 24th - TrophiesAfter being in 4-H and taking as many projects as I did plus other events I was involved in, I have accumulated a pile of trophies. As the dates get farther and farther out you realize that trophies aren’t really that important and take up a lot of room. However when you are a kid you love getting trophies, and they are pretty much the best thing ever. Now looking back I would rather have gotten more plaques as I have all of those hanging on the back porch wall, and they take up much less space.

February 23rd - Geography book
I picked this up at a flea market for 50 cents, great deal right? It’s just an old rotting geography school book from the 1920’s. What’s cool about it? Well it has older maps which I always find interesting, it by far the best thing about the book is a picture of a Pacific Islander standing in front of a hut with the caption “The Hut the home of Tropical Savages”!

February 22nd - Subwoofer
This is one of the worst purchases I’ve ever made and why I still have it in my room I’m not sure. I should have thrown it out by now. When I was 17 I had some money and let myself get talked into buying an new sound system for my Monte Carlo and this was one of the things included in what I got. 2 MTX 10 inch subs… problem was the guy who said he’d install them didn’t really know what he was doing / never helped me finish the project so they never really got used that much. Add in the fact that my trunk leaked water and over the years the box slightly warped and the subs rotted out. So yeah bad buy for me, they were kind of cool when I had them working, though the fact I don’t listen to that much music with a lot of bass made them sort of silly to have.

I got this for Christmas from my Grandma and Grandpa when I was in 2nd grade I believe, I always liked the idea of having one, problem is I never took the time to figure out what to do with it. It’s one of those silly things I guess where I wanted it… then got it and never used it. I was into space there for awhile when I was in elementary school. I remember taking it outside once or twice, but I’m not sure I ever knew what I wanted to see with it. I saw the moon, but really I don’t think the telescope is more powerful than a pair of good binoculars.

2 months after I turned 16 my Dad bought me my first car, a 1986 Monte Carlo SS with T-Tops. My uncle likes to build model cars and trucks as a hobby. He is good and wins awards at model shows, as well as having some of his builds featured in magazines. He built this model Monte Carlo car to match mine for Christmas that year and gave it to me.

Feb 19th - Warhammer 40k
This is a game I have mentioned before on my blog as one I used to play. I have a lot of money worth of these models sitting around. I would like to start playing again and hopefully I will, but until then they just sit around. I guess they do shoe some creativity/arts as I had to paint all of the models myself, though I was a poor painter. Overall it was a fun game just ran out of people to play with and then I started playing magic as well. (I believe there is a blog post from October 2010 about 40K as well)

28 Things - Hulk Hands

February 18th - Hulk Hands

When the first Hulk movie (it wasn’t very good) came out in I believe 2003, they started advertising these for kids, and I really wanted a pair! But they cost like 20 dollars new and I didn’t want to buy these little kids toys for myself no matter how cool I thought they were. When you smash them against things they have a voice box that makes crashing noises and says things like “Hulk Smash!”

Well come the summer of 2007 Steve and I were down at the Brookville flea market and low and behold what does crazy box man happen to have in his boxes today??? HULK HANDS! I was so pumped; it was hard to calmly purchase these fine items for the wonderful price of $1! Interestingly multiple people commented throughout the rest of the morning walking around the flea market that I should be careful with those and not go around punching people? I guess they thought Steve and I were going to have a royal smack down or something that afternoon? But at least 3 people warned us not to get hurt. So yeah Hulk Hands make you look bad ass like that

Unfortunately only one of the hands has its voicebox, the other is missing and they have seen some abuse before they got to me. But this is hands down (ha ha) the best purchase I have made for $1.

February 17th - 2XL

This guy is the best Christmas present I ever got! He is a robot that asked you trivia or did “choose your own adventure” stories by using cassette tapes. You just put the tape in and by using the four buttons on his front you were off and playing, you just had to listen to him tell you what to do. I had a whole bunch of cassettes, mostly trivia but also some Batman Choose your own adventure stories. I got 2XL I want to say Christmas the year I was in 2nd grade. I don’t know of anyone else that ever had one but I always thought he was an awesome toy.

February 16th - Game Gear

Photobucket

I got this Game Gear for my birthday when I was in 2nd grade, it was and has been the only handheld I have ever owned… and I must say it was awesome. My sister and Mom have become big handheld players starting with Nintendo’s GameBoy color, but I’ve stayed pretty much to console play. It’s sad the Sega dropped out of the hand held market so early as like most things, they were way ahead of their time. Game Gear had a color screen! This was years before GameBoy color was released by Nintendo. I don’t think the selection of game titles was as expansive as GameBoy’s at the time, but it was certainly adequate enough. Everyone I know who has owned one of these loved it, the only problem was you had to have a wall or car adaptor to play one of these… as it drained batteries… all 8 AA batteries that it required in very little time. If those Energy Efficiently ratings existed back when these were made I’m sure it would have failed and probably came with a skull and crossbones warning or something. Its 8 AA’s would allow you to play 9 innings of the baseball game I had…and then that was it.

February 15th - Video Cameras

Photobucket

Above are my two video cameras… and yep the one is broken.

I first got a video camera in the summer of 2006 after a few of my friends wrote a script for a horror movie that we wanted to film. Only problem was we didn’t have a camera, so I stepped up and got us a camera… however we have faced numerous setbacks/lack of desire and have yet to film this masterpiece! I still enjoyed having the camera though; as I like to take videos… just feel weird doing it since most people will say they hate to be filmed :( I used to film 2 family vacations and I really like the idea of having those memories captured. Unfortunately this August when my Dad and I were on our epic 25+ mile hike over Mount LeConte… I broke the view screen of the camcorder and it doesn’t work right anymore :( The camera also got a lot of use as a still picture camera.

So this Christmas I got a new Camcorder with money from my Grandparents. I’m excited to try it out as I’ve yet to have anything eventful to film. But when I do I’ll be ready… and you never know this might be the year for our horror film to get into production!

28 Things - Great Mouse Detective

28 Thing Is a blog series in which I will briefly talk about a different thing in my room every day, and post a picture of said item.

February 14th - Great Mouse Detective

Photobucket

When I was younger and stayed the night at my grandmas we would watch movies from her semi-limited selection and one movie she had was The Great Mouse Detective. This has become my favorite Disney movie.

Why you ask? 1. It gets very little love, in fact if you go to Walt Disney World you will really struggle to find any mention of this classic anywhere! I saw someone with a pin for GMD but never saw them being sold anywhere. I think it’s because the henchmen get drunk, the main character smokes and vices like that. 2. The Villain – Ratigan is pretty awesome/evil… the guy brags about killing people and burning down orphanages in his theme song!

As I have previously mentioned my love of Laser Disc… I own a copy GMD on Laser Disc! And my Sister bought me a copy of it on DVD this year for Christmas :)

And yes I still need to get a laser disc player!

February 13th - Magic Cards

Photobucket

I started playing Magic the Gathering the summer before my Jr. Year of high school during the Onslaught block period of Magic. My group of friends and I all started playing around the same time and it became so that we almost had a standing game session of Magic every night after school at Steve’s trailer. I went to a few tournaments but was never really that good at it. I mainly played Red decks so the majority of my collection reflects that. However, after the summer of 2004 our Magic group fell apart and I have rarely played since then. To be honest I might be selling out all of my cards soon, they aren’t worth much as I don’t have any super rare cards and they are no longer legal for the main type of tournaments (type II). But I had some good memories with this hobby.

February 12th – G.I. Joe

Photobucket

I was a huge fan of G.I. Joe when I was little, I loved the cartoons and I had a TON of the action figures! Most of the action figures now hang out in the attic; however, recently I got these guys that were made in a line along with Marvel Superheros and such. They aren’t the old G.I. Joe action figures of old, but I think they look cool and I have them setting next to my computer as decoration I guess… something like that. I got Cobra commander and Roadblock last Christmas from a hotel guest and this December while on my Lexington trip for work I stumbled upon a pack of Snake Eyes, Timber, and Zartan for only $2.50 so I had to jump on them. So while they just sit around they are cool to me.

February 11th - 4-H medals

Photobucket

I was really big into 4-H in my local county where I was a full 10 year member and was also 4-H King my 10th year. I started in 4-H in the 4th grade with 4 projects; electric, swine, rabbits, and aerospace (model rockets). I ended up finishing in the course of my 10 year over 100 projects so as you can tell I expanded just a little ;) The projects I took changed from year to year; dropping some, continuing some, picking up new ones. Projects I took in addition to the previous four included; Goats, Chickens, Ratites, Cats, Soy beans – grain, Soybean – plan, Corn – Grain, Corn – Plant, Wheat, Garden, Weeds, Hay, Models, Collections, Leadership and probably some others I can’t recall right now. Some of the projects where a lot of work, some weren’t. But I enjoyed the challenge and loved showing something almost every day at the fair. Of all the projects I took Rabbits and Swine I completed every year for the full 10 years. The medallion on the left is for being a 10 year member in Rabbits, and the medal on the right is what I received for being 4-H King.

This was a Christmas gift from last year from my friend Megan; he is a stuffed Hippo webkins toy. The Webkinz part is so that you can go online and play games with it and stuff. To be honest I only did the online things a few times but I still like Horatio since Hippos are my favorite animal. The Superman cape came from the bag I got another Christmas gift from a guest at the hotel I was working at last Christmas. I thought it looked cool on Horatio so he has been wearing it ever since.

February 9th – Bourbon Trail

In the summer of 2007 my Dad and I took a vacation to Mammoth Cave and the Bourbon Trail. The Bourbon Trail is just a mini tour of Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky.* We visited Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Wild Turkey, Heaven Hills, Buffalo Trace and Four Roses. All of the distilleries have a little tour and some have tastings as well, it’s a pretty good little trip though the tours do get repetitive. Buffalo Trace was our favorite tour and Four Roses was our favorite tasting.

Anyway these are two little souvenirs I got a Buffalo Trace, the one on the left is a barrel bung, which is what they hammer in to plug the hole that they fill and empty the barrels of bourbon. (The bourbon is housed for several years to a decade in these giant warehouses full of barrels, it’s really cool actually) The cork on the right is a collectible bottle topper for a bottle of Blanton’s bourbon, made by Buffalo Trace, its supposed to be a top end bourbon, but it wasn’t available at the tasting.

February 8th – M&M dispenser

This guy is an M&M candy dispenser, I got him I’d guess 12 years ago or so. You fill up his body with M&M candy via a door in his back and pull down his arm that is holding the football… and M&M candy’s come pouring out the football helmet he is holding in his other hand. I always thought it was cool, but M&M’s never last very long at the house so he has been empty 99.9% of his life! Sadly the plastic has cracked on the front where the helmet attaches to his body.

28 Thing Is a blog series in which I will briefly talk about a different thing in my room every day, and post a picture of said item.

February 7th – Surfin' Santa

So While I was looking for things to use for this series I stumbled upon this…. It is the script to the elementary school play/musical I was a part of in 6th grade. I had the lead role as “Santa” where I had to go on a Hawaiian vacation because I was burnt out from making toys… Thus I was the Surfing Santa! Of course there is plot twist in there but I saved the day as the good guy always does.

At one time I had a cardboard surfboard that was a prop for the musical but I got rid of that long ago.

Super Bowl Notebook:

Super Bowl Notebook

So since I’m sitting here and getting ready to watch the SuperBowl, and to be honest I’m not that excited for it this year. It’s always more interesting when my team the Colts are in it, but alas they are out this year. Anyway since I’m watching it with Kong and my Dad I figured I’d attempt to do what I did for the Winter Olympic opening ceremony… a running commentary of my thoughts.

So without further ado here were go…

I’m rooting for Green Bay over the Steelers… reasoning? The Steelers knock out the Colts from time to time in a famous Kordell Stewart running out of bounds and coming back in to illegally catch a pass for a touchdown against the Colts in the AFC Championship game in I believe 1996! Ugh Also the Steelers have won the Super Bowl more often and more recently.

So Mascot Battle… Packers vs Steelers

Packers… kill animals and make it so we can eat them

Steelers… make steel so that we can build buildings and cars and stuff

I’m sure if I watched a modern documentary on those jobs I’d find a lot of it is done my machines and isn’t as cool or as tough as I imagine it… so I’ll go with older view like 1920’s…

In the Book “The Jungle” everyone knows that the main character works in the packing yards of Chicago… well he also worked in a steel foundry for a brief amount of time. So I’m thinking old time like that, so lets break it down.

Packers… used to the Cold - Steelers… used to the Heat

But.. it’s an indoor game so this is neutral

Jargius last like 2 years as a killer on the packers floor, but only a month at the foundry before he is hurt. So does that mean that the steelers have an advantage for being tougher? Or does that mean that they are just more injury prone?

Overall I’m going with Packers… because they are covered in blood and can endure the stench of their place of employment… also they put bacon on our plates!

Armed forces tribute…. I respect the military, but a lot of time the military tributes feel felt thrown in, and not genuine. American the Beautiful… everyone looks bored… they want the National Anthem, so that the game can start… this is just the opening act.

Christina Aguilera for the National Anthem…. I don’t like it when people stretch out every word of the song and make all the pitch changes when they hold out the notes. You don’t have to showboat on it, it’s not about you… Also she sucked at singing it tonight.

The Commercials are a pretty big thing when we are sitting here debating as to whether or not these are the start of the important commercials to watch, or are they just old ones. Here’s to a new etrade baby commercial, they are some of the best nowadays.

Coin toss ceremony… Boring…. This is like the only time people really care about the thing, and its only because they want us to care and thus draw it out into a 3 min production.

And now the game starts…

Fumble! Almost had our first big moment as two Green Bay teammates get into each other’s space and cause a muffed punt return.

First batch of commercials… meh… Bud Light is the best thus far. I was expecting more of a payoff for the Doritios commercial and the Audi one was just too long.

2nd batch of commercials… the Doritios one was just weird…. Chevy blah… Pepsi Max… ok that was funny at the end.

3rd batch over commercials.. Bud Light product placement was good, as was the sliverado guy saving people.

John Madden is sitting next to former Pres George W Bush

Crazy bets you can make on the super bowl, include.. what color Gatorade the winning coach will have dumped on him.

Green Bay scores…. You get a feeling this could be a blow out

4th commercial… Pepsi is into hitting people with cans, Doritos.. boring this time

I realized my commercial comments are going to be hard to understand, but I don’t have time to describe them, and I don’t expect anyone to read this rambling by me.

Cowboys vs Aliens.. epic name.. but the movie might suck.. I still want to see it though.

Interception Green Bay… Big Ben got pressured and threw up a duck… returned for a touch down! Yep I’m thinking a blow out.

Excessive Celebration after a touchdown should not be a penalty… and it should defiantly not be a penalty in the Super Bowl when you emotions are so high! If you don’t want the people to celebrate against you… don’t let them score simple as that.

Reply all email commercial… alright, Volt commercial bland, Go Daddy… boring. Thus far I’m unimpressed by the commercials if you can’t tell.

Pittsburg with a FG to prove they aren’t going to roll over… 14-3 Packers on top.

I have a feeling I’m going to stop posting about commercials until I see another good one.

Volkswagen little Darth Vader commercial… good! It’s in the running for best one tonight.

It doesn’t seem like advertising a movie would go over well / be worth the money for a super bowl spot.

Green Bay with another Interception! They are beating up on Ben R. tonight.

TOUCHDOWN GREENBAY.. 21-3

A car with Facebook news feed… idk if this a good sign for humanity or not… I’m guessing not.

Captian America and Thor coming out this summer, sounds like this summer will be a better summer for movies than last summer.

Is the turf here hard or something? Seems like everyone is hurting their shoulders after going to the ground hard. Everyone is getting hurt… my Dad just said that this will be called the Injury Bowl.

Pittsburg scores 21-10, keeping themselves in the game and taking advantage of Green Bays secondary now that they have 2 starters in the locker room. The announcer just said it looks like Green Bays defense is holding a team meeting in the locker room due to injuries.

Half-Time – Black Eyed Peas have the show… they certainly have to be better than the Who’s cracking voices last year. But can they beat Prince as the best halftime show I remember? I don’t really like Prince but he was the best I can remember.

Groin Kick safe auto commercial… meh groin kicks are funny but since that commercial was like the third one tonight that featured a groin hit… its getting old tonight.

“Sounds of the Game” is boring, I don’t care what the mics picked up players saying unless its mean or dirty and they aren’t going to play that on TV.

Black Eyed peas… are ok, nothing too special, they didn’t sound that great in the big arena sound system.

However, Slash’s guest appearance was really good.

Usher’s on the other hand… just showed me that he is single handily keeping Boy Band Dancing alive.

Also I think Will.i.Am just called out Obama?

I wouldn’t want to be one of the back ground dancers who has to dance with a box on their head.

Overall ranking of their show… ok, better than the Stones and Who, worse than Paul McCartney and Prince.

So in my waiting for the game to start I took a look at Yahoo news and it appears that Christina Aguilera was as bad as I said… in fact worse as she left out a whole line in the national anthem. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Video-Christina-Aguilera-goofs-up-the-National-?urn=nfl-317568

Green Bay just got screwed on that facemask penalty

Etrade Baby! Good commercial, I don’t know if it’s the tops tonight in the top 3 for sure, but most of tonight has been mediocre.

Pittsburg is taking it to Green Bay now, this may end up being a really good game.

Packers getting some momentum back with a stop and a badly missed FG by Pittsburg.

A lot of Chrystler commercials and a 2nd commercial featuring Eminem, kind of surprising he’d get that much love today.

Pittsburg is winning the mind game; they just baited Green Bay into a personal foul on that last punt.

End of the 3rd Quarter.. Yep I’ve defiantly slowed down on my comments.

Green Bay forces a fumble and recover it! They needed that as Pittsburgh’s running game and been pushing them around this half.

Nelson for the Packers isn’t going to sleep well tonight… 4 dropped passes…

As soon as I write that he catches a big one for over 35 yards.

Touch Down Green Bay!

My Dad is on the phone with one of his friends whose feed gets what is happening about 3 seconds before us.. they are having some interesting conversation arguing about what is and isn’t happening.

Touch Down Pittsburgh, I will admit I was totally wrong in thinking this might be a blow out earlier tonight. Pittsburgh going for two….

And they get it on the little option pitch, nice play you don’t see that one in the NFL that much.

I enjoyed the commercial of House spoofing the old “Mean Joe Green” Coke commercial.

I feel like I should be more excited for this game since it’s so close and has been really good thus far. Just can’t get into that much since the Colts aren’t playing and I have no vested interest in either team winning this game. This is why people gamble on sports, makes every game exciting. That is what makes me want to go to Vegas for the first weekend of March Madness.

Packers hit a FG 31-25 with a little over 2 minutes to play

Pittsburgh gets caught with a personal foul, great turn for the Packers having them pinned back. However, Big Ben has won two Super Bowls already and game winning drives in the last 2 minutes are when legends are made…

Note I hope he doesn’t do a legend making drive…

4th down… they have to go for it….Stopped by Green Bay, all they have to do is take a knee now. That’s the game!

Well the Packers win, they are going to Disney World!

That’s the end of my commentary, ended up being over 4 pages long… so if you read all of this? I’m surprised and you are like my biggest fan or something :)

February 6th- Marvin the Martian

Photobucket

Well I guess since yesterdays post was a stuffed animal I’ll keep in the theme and post another one I have, Marvin the Martian. (I promise you not all of these 28 things are childhood toys ;) but hey they happen to be the things I have a lot of memories of / things to talk about)

Marvin is/was my favorite Looney Toon, even though he didn’t star in very many of those cartoons. I got this guy when I was probably 10, at Fannie Farkle’s arcade in Gatlinburg, Tennessee* on a family vacation. I have no idea how many tickets he cost but I’m sure it was a lot. Mom and Dad obviously where responsible for winning him for the most part as I was dependant on them pitching in tickets as well as giving me the money to earn my tickets.

I never really played with him that much and he has sat in my closet for most of the time I’ve had him, but he reminds me of family vacations when I was little, and I think he is pretty cool.

*I also totally found a 10 year old coupon of saved tickets for this place in my room and took it with me when I went to Gatlinburg this year… but forgot to spend it! It’s in my wallet right now. Also here is a link to their arcade: http://www.fanniefarklesgatlinburg.com/

So as embarrassing as I guess this could be/probably is, this is my teddy bear from when I was little. He still chills in my closet nowadays as I never got rid of him.

As you can tell by the picture he has seen better days, he is missing some fur on his belly, and his eyes are somewhat scratched but that is all due to the love he got when I was little. I probably should have found a picture of his younger days on a family vacation or something, but I don’t have a scanner.

The bears name is “Twofur” and I got him when I was two years old. You may ask why is he named “Twofur”? well he was sold as a twin – two for 5 dollars, and when I was little I took my grandma and mom talking about him being a “two for” and thought they were calling him “twofur” thus how he was named.

His twin you ask? I don’t know what happened to her, other than she was a pink bear and I believe she went to a distant cousin / relative on my Mom’s side of the family of who I don’t really know much about.

28 Things - Campaign Pin

28 Thing Is a blog series in which I will briefly talk about a different thing in my room every day, and post a picture of said item.

February 4th- Nixon Election Pin

Photobucket

This is my Richard Nixon political election pin from his 1972 political campaign. I actually bought two of these and gave the other one to my Dad as Nixon Is his favorite president. It’s pretty cool, I don’t think it’s worth much however as a quick glance on Ebay prices it around 2.50 plus shipping, but that’s all cool since it only cost me a buck. I bought it at a flea market in Brookv ille, Indiana. I used to go to that flea market almost every week in the summers for 3-4 years, but I only went once last year and was disappointed. Overall I think it is a cool little piece that I own.

February 3rd - Paintball Gear

Photobucket
Sadly this stuff hasn’t been used for awhile. My friends and I got into playing Paintball the summer of 2006 I want to say? I have a Tippman 98 Custom marker which was really good for our playing field as it was more accurate than most of my opponents markers. And since we were playing back in my Grandpas woods, accuracy was usually more important than rate of fire.

We actually had our area of the woods stomped down to where it was a really good paintball course to play on. We had a good run playing about once – twice a week before the cost of paintballs, finding a place to refill CO2, and people’s markers breaking down, and finally a lack of interest put an end to paintball fun. I went back to college and we haven’t played since. I want to play again, so maybe someday… but I definitely don’t regret the purchase of the gear and have a great summer of memories with it.

Some pictures of the Ice Storm

Here are some pictures of the Ice Storm that blew through this week, we have been without electricity for 26 hrs now (I'm at the truckstop now posting this) and have about a half inch of ice on the roads. The pictures aren't that great but I thought I'd post some.

28 Things - Ninja Troll

Day 2 – Ninja Troll

Photobucket

This guy has been sitting in my closet for awhile protecting it from evil and all of that jazz. I got him back when I was in 1st grade (1991) and trolls where at the height of their pop culture phase… I remember back then there were all kinds of them, from the girly ones that wore dresses, the naked ones, ones with little fake gems, pencil toppers, ect. The one thing they did all have in common was that they had that crazy bright colored and hair sticking out of their plastic bodies. Honestly looking back I don’t know how they got popular in the first place as they are pretty ugly. I remember there was a troll cartoon as well.

One problem they had was they weren’t very cool as a “boys” toy… like where was the action man! That was until they unleashed a set of tough guy trolls. This was the ninja troll he originally came with a crossbow that has long since been lost. I believe the packaging said these guys were supposed to protect your room, I’m not sure I don’t remember. I think there was more than Ninjas in the set, but honestly I don’t remember at all. This was the only one I had, and while I thought he looked cool, I didn’t play with him a lot.

28 Things - Light Fixture

28 Things

28 Thing Is a blog series in which I will briefly talk about a different thing in my room every day, and post a picture of said item. Today is the first day in the series that will run through the month of February.

February 1st

My light fixture,

It’s kind of ugly right? This is actually the thing that inspired this series as one morning I was laying in bed looking at it again and thinking about how it has always been an ugly and strange light fixture. I imagine it’s the original fixture that was put in when the house was built which would make it around 80 years old. It has some plaster on the base from when my parents stripped all of the wallpaper out of this room around 16 years ago and then re-plastered the ceiling. I think those little blue things on the base are supposed to be flowers.

I remember when I was little I imagined it looked sort of like a face looking down at the floor, with the part where the light bulb screws in being the mouth. Thus the white light bulb was like a drop of spit that the face was spitting out at the ground. The angle of the picture does this imagery no justice though. Also at night when the light from the hallway shines in on it, the shadow it makes on the opposite wall looks like a pawn from a chess set which is kind of cool I guess.
