Catching Fire -Suzanne Collins

This is the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy, I read the first last month and enjoyed it for the most part and have been needing to get this book read as well. Sure it may not be the most important read in the world but it is on my list as one I need to get read and it will be a quick read. The storyline has my interst so I'd like to know how it ends.

A Concert you would like to go to

I'd really like to see the band "Black Rebel Motorcycle Club" I've liked their sound since I first heard them about two years ago. However, they have never really been in this area since I heard about them. They have done tours in Europe and South America. So hopefully they come by Indiana sometime soon.

I've also thought going to a Jimmy Buffett concert would be a fun time. I like his music and think the party atmosphere would be fun to expeirence atleast once.

Day 18

Movie you want to see coming out this year

Well there are 3 movies coming out this year I for sure want to see... first up is the Hunger Games which opens next weekend. I have read the first book and mostly enjoyed it, which makes me want to see how they adapt the story to the big screen.

The second movie would be "The Dark Knight Rises" the end of the current series of Batman movies that started back in 2005, so I am looking forward to the conclusion in what will certainly be a blockbuster this summer.

The third movie would be "The Avengers" when a bunch of super heroes with successful movies team up you kind of have to get excitied... that is if it doesn't fall flat trying to balance so many characters.

A website you used to visit a lot

Well I'll list two...

First one is Homerstarrunner.com this was a comedy/cartoon site which is still funny to this day... it just hasn't updated in over a year and before that the updates were 1-2 a year. It used to update weekly and had some extrememly funny skit/toons


I also used to be addicted to an online game at hobowars.com and spent many, many hours on that game and met some intersting people while playing it.

A favorite TV series that is off the air

For this question I'm going to go with a TV show that was a big hit a few years ago... Heros, it had an awesome first season, but a writers strike that hit the second season really killed the show. They tried to bounce it back by basically pretending large parts of the second season never happed... (some characters never came back) I thought the final season was finally getting back on track but the loss of fans had did the series in.

A favorite memory a song inspires

I'm going to go with a song from last Feburary... "What the Hell" by Avril Lavigne... this song was playing a lot when Erin and I started dating.. and it reminded me of her a lot. Avril is one of her favorite musical artist (probably #2 behind Five for Fighting) and it seemed like this song would be the first thing I'd hear on the radio on the way home from her house. So it always just reminds me of her whenever I hear it and those first couple months of us dating :)

Well on series with the question favorite song I normally go with Hotel California by the Eagles, but since this isn't limited to my favorite I figure I will mix it up a bit and go with something different. How about "The Cave" by Mumford and Sons

Day 11

One of your favorite books

For this I'm going to go with "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair

Its remembered for being a key piece in promoting regulation on the meat industry (Upton Sinclair had went undercover to research for the book) However, the whole book was written as a political piece... the meat industy has little to do with the social/political changes he was pushing it was just the back drop...

Anyway its a good and sad tale of the troubles immigrants faced in the United States that will stick with you. The last two chapters aren't that great (where the author pushes his political solution, against the capitalism described in the book) but the rest of the book more than maks up for it.

Day 10

One of the best movies you saw in a movie theatre


Strangely I'd have to say most of my top 5-6 movies I didn't see in the movie theatre.
Bridesmaids was the movie that stands out the most for me from last year, followed by Suckerpunch... but I'm going to go a little further back and pick V for Vendetta... I really liked that one even if rewatching it makes it seem a little long. I thought it was well done and had a good a story.

Well most boringly the answer is probably facebook, like a majority of internet users. Seems like that is just the quickest way to connect with everything online. Cracked.com is another one high up there because I like reading all of the comedy articles on it. Zillow.com for real estate because Erin and I have been looking at houses on there a lot recently. yahoo.com because I check their sports coverage a lot... other than that its pretty random.

Day 7

7.) Most Recent Concert/Live Event
Well it has been going on two years since I went to a live concert... Erin and I talked about going to one last summer but it never worked out/never found someone playing that we wanted to go see here locally.

I can put the Purdue vs Neberska game that Erin and I went to at the end of Feburary as the most recent event. It was a great time and I really enjoyed it and getting to spend the time with Erin :) I had a blast, it was the first game I had been to since I had graduated in 2008.

For Music I guess I'd have to trace back to Janus/Sick Puppies/Chevelle from Feb. 2009 wow!

For live event I could strecth to public speaking event, saw one by a local guy on the Underground Railroad in Decatur County, The show choir from Greensburg and a panel of AAGPBL players all in the last 6 months...but not the excitement of

Ok this one is sort of hard.... other than starting to watch Spartacus the other night, Erin and I haven't watched a movie at home in quite sometime... we have just been busy doing other things. I guess I'd have to say the Blade... Erin and I watched that and I can't remember us watching any other movie in its entirty since then...

Walking Dead

Its about the only show on currently that I watch every week, Erin and I have to make sure we are ready to watch it every Sunday night. While this current season has been really slow thus far we aren't ready to give up on it. The first season was great, but the 2nd half of this season has been bogged down. Hope the last two episodes get things rolling again!

Busy Signals - The Pink Spiders



Was playing in my car last night as I pulled into the driveway on my way home from Erin's. She posted a link to a Pink Spiders song on her facebook last week and I have been listening to them a lot this week. I have them in my music library because of Steve. We were sitting at the truckstop one night maybe a year and a half ago (wow been a long time), and he was talking about them so I got some of their music but never listened to them that much until recently.

A Death of Honor

Picked this up for free on my Kindle for something to read,  Its a Science ficition murder mystery story.

I'm a fan of old Sci-Fi... H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, etc... so I can get over dated Sci-Fi though reading a Sci-Fi from the 1980's can be fairly unintentionally humorous... The Soviets are taking over the globe, computers still have green screens and take DOS commands.

Overall I rate it very average, worth picking up if you need something to read but nothing special overall. There were some intersting aspects but the author skipped over them and went for more of the basic murder mystery plot.

The weekend before Valentines Day, Erin and I sort of did our Valentines day gift exchange because the Tuesday that Valentines actually fell on didn't work well with our schedules. That night (the 11th) we went to see the movie "The Woman In Black"

Overall I don't think either of us were that impressed with it, I thought the ending left some to be desired and Erin didn't think the back story was developed quickly enough. (She also couldn't see Daniel Radcliffe outside of his Harry Potter role).
