January Reading List

January 2011

I didn’t do that well this month, kinda got tired of listening to audio books on my drive and listened to more music than text lately.

1. Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte (1847)

A gothic novel, which has some interesting parts but it was a little too much love story for me. How everything came full circle was interesting after it all played out, but wasn’t that impressed overall.

2. Blockade Runner – Jules Verne (1865)

An adventure story about a British captain who has a plan to runner the Union blockade of Charlestown to trade ammo for cotton in order to make a profit and help out his home. Throw in bland love story to get the plot running and there you have it. Overall the story was a disappointment, Verne is much better than this. There is never any real suspense or excitement in the story, no scientific thoughts that you would expect from Verne and the romance is as bland/tacked on as can be. The story left a lot on the table.

I also started reading Fathers and Sons but I believe that one will go unfinished.
