Day 30 - A picture of someone you miss.
I don't have a picture for this currently, I'll have to try and dig one up someplace but Idk if I will be able to. After thinking long and hard about this one I'm going with several of my old co-workers from when I worked in a few Hotels. I'm horrible at keeping up with people, so I pretty much never know anything about them after I moved on which is kind of sad I guess.

I like this picture of my Dad and I from 2007 after spending the morning emptying the corn crib and shelling all of the corn with his old Minn. Moline corn sheller (or what Mom calls the "time machine")

It's a narrative picture I guess; starting at the top left the day started out being rainy, I went to work (top right) and worked the check book along with other things, I went got some lunch at Taco Bell (bottom right)where I met up with Erin, then went back to work before finally going to anytime fitness. (bottom left) that was my day.

Easter Egg dying 2011
Here are some pictures taken April 23rd while dying Easter Eggs!
Casey and Ben painting some Eggs
Erin trying to look cool in our messy kitchen during the egg dying festivites
Eggs!
I should have taken more photos, I only have these 3 and didn't get one at Case and my annual attempt to make a black egg with a skull and crossbones on it... our famous "pirate egg" effort. Well its a tradition dating back 3 maybe 4 years now.

Day 24 - A picture of something you wish you could change.
This will seem I guess maybe kind of negative, but I'd go back and pick a second major of maybe something more practical than my History degree like an Accounting degree. I'd still keep my History degree as now that I finally found a job that uses it I'm happy. But maybe a second more practical major wouldn't have hurt, as hey I had the time to pick up 4 minors I'll never really use a 2nd major would have been more usefull in the long run I think.

Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book.
This is a tough one for me, I don't know if I really have a favorite book, but I recently read this one and found it intersting, except for the last two chapters which I felt where thrown in and not supported well the rest of the book was really solid. After I read it I thought about doing a write up blog breaking it down with my opinions on the various topics, but didn't want to put forth the effort it would take to do it right. "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair

This was tough, I don't really want to forget any of my memories and even then I don't have many photos of my own personal bad memories. Day 20 - A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel.
Cambodia, I'm not sure why but I have always thought it would be awesome to see Ankor Wat. I guess maybe its just that it is such an exotic place? Egypt and the Amazon River would be my 2nd and 3rd choices of places to travel too. Though I realize none of them are very safe places to go to (now that Egypt has been having some political unrest the last 3 months or so)

A Brief History of Watering Cans
(created for an exhibit at work, formatting never comes out from word -> blogger but oh well)
A Brief History of Watering Cans
The term “Watering Can” is believed to have been coined by Lord Timothy George of Cornwall, an avid gardener who wrote about watering cans in his diary in 1692. Before this containers used to water the plants in the gardens were simply known as “Watering Pots”
It wasn’t until the late-1800’s that the next major innovation in watering cans would take place when an Englishman named John Haws would introduce a new design. John had served as a civil servant for Queen Victoria in the mid-1800’s in Mauritius. (Mauritius is a small island off the coast of Madagascar, near the southwest tip of Africa) While in Mauritius he took up the hobby of growing vanilla plants and found the current design for watering cans to be awkward and hard to maneuver. The popular style for the time had one large handle that arched from the front to the back of the can; this made it hard to balance the can whilst watering plants that were on higher shelving.
(Watering can with a single front to back handle in the French style)
When Mr. Haws had retired from his service and returned home to England he found himself in the midst of a gardening explosion. In these Victorian era gardens the wealthy upper class was searching for the perfect home and garden to put on display. This search called for a wide variety of plants that were now being grown in greenhouses throughout England (thanks in part to the increased availability of glass at this time) These new ornamental gardens and greenhouse cultivation required a lot of hand watering, and Haws was there to step up with his new take on the watering can.
In 1885 John Haws applied for and was issued the first ever patent on a watering can with his new handle design. His patent claimed:
“This new invention forms a Watering Pot that is much easier to carry, and at the same time being much cleaner, and more adapted for use than any put before the public”
The key innovation his Haws design was the addition of a second handle. The previous French design had just one large front to back handle. However, Haws design had a “carrying” handle on top and a “tipping” handle on the back of the can to allow a more even distribution of water and his design also called for a spout located at the bottom of the watering can to allow for easier watering of plants on high shelves.
(From landrethseeds.com, a Haws Watering Can based of his patented design)
The Haws watering can is still popular today, though Michael Deas, did later also get a patent by replacing the top mounted handle created by Haws and mounting a single round handle at the back for ease of pouring. The slight improvement took off and is still a popular design that is seen today.
Historic or modern, plastic or metal, decorative or plain, a watering can has become an essential piece of equipment in every gardeners tool shed. We here at the Historical Society of Decatur County hope you have enjoyed our watering can display.
Watering Can Fact: The spout is capped with a fitting made of small holes where water is expelled from a very gentle flow to a heavier flow, dependent upon the delicacy of the plant being watered. This ‘cap’ is also known as a ‘rose’.

Chantel's Wedding / Annual Dinner
So Today was a super busy day.... but I had known it would be for some time now which allowed me to get somewhat prepared...
I had both Chantel's Wedding and the Annual Dinner for the Historical Society tonight and I wanted to make both of them... well I had to make the dinner because I had to be there for work.
So I went in to the Presybertian Church at 1 to hurray and get things set up for the dinner... made some table center pieces, set up the mic and screen, got out the pictures and generally made sure everything would be ready for that night.
Then I zoomed off as fast as possible to make it to Waldron for Chantel and Joe's wedding at 3. I missed them walking down the aisle but slid into the pew with my parents in time to see the ceremony. It was a nice wedding, congrats to both of them!
After the wedding was over I hurried back to Greensburg to the dinner. The dinner went smoothly, Ray Boomhower was the guest speaker. He is the editor of the Indiana Historical Societies publication and spoke to us about Robert Kennedy's run in the Indiana primary in 1968. (Kennedy had stopped in Greensburg to campaign).
After the dinner I met up with Erin (she had to work earlier and thus couldn't make the dinner), and we went to the last coupld hours of Joe and Chantel's wedding reception. We had a good time and I'm glad that the whole day went smooth.

Brown County with Erin and her Dogs
Today Erin and I went to Brown County with her dogs Jude and Juno, she took a lot of picture but these were a few that she had posted on Facebook that I was able to snag.
At one point on our walk a guy and girl looked to be having a semi-romantic moment when she saw the dogs and broke down crying because she had a Westie that had recently died... way to go Jude and Juno!
It was a fun day but we were tired by the end, on the way back from Brown County we stopped at Columbus to grab some Noble Roman breadsticks since they are the best and you can't get them in Greensburg anymore.
That night we went to Wings and Rings for dinner and got to see a drunk guy walk around, overall it was a great day.

APC - Day 7
Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.
This one is kind of tricky...
My car is my most valuable, but it has insurance and is replaceable.
My computer is my most used item but its files are backed up.
Pets/People aren't items, and I don't think you can count body parts (i.e. your brain or heart)
so I'm going with...my little toy hippo Howie, because I have no idea where I'd find one exactly like him and of all the fun I've had carrying him around taking pictures of him the last few years. Silly choice I know, and if I had to pick between him and my car I would pick my car anyday but he is still a treasured piece of mine.

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.
This was tough in that first I thought I'd want to take the role of someone really influential... but then that is a lot of stress and you only have one day to influence anything. So I narrowed down my ideal choice being someone rich and young enough to do whatever they wanted for a day, thinking I might as well have fun instead of it being a learning experience.

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite memory.
This one was hard, so I immediatly narrowed it down to things I had pictures of, and well it was still hard to choose however this photo jumped out at me. My family's vaction summer 2007, is what I consider out best vacation ever. We saw James K. Polk's house, Graceland, The Crater of Diamonds Mines (where the pic is), Historic Washington Arkansas, an awesome hotel room, Lamberts Home of the Flying Rolls, Grant's Farm, and the St. Louis Arch. Lots of stuff in less than a week but a lot of fun and I video taped a lot of it :)
We still talk about this trip fairly often at my house.

March - What happened?
So you might have noticed that I basically didn't post much of anything for March and now here we are on April 4th.
I guess Erin is the main reason I didn't have much to say this month as I was spending most of my time with her and didn't have a whole lot of time to be on here and writing about whats going on in my life. I started dating her on the 18th of February and we have seen each other almost everyday since then so things have been going well.
My Wii got a ton of play this month, I haven't played that thing in over a year but I introduced Erin to it and Wii Sports. She is a good bowler (though she apparently hurt her arm the first time we played lol), but I can beat her in the other games. She also bought Mario Party 8 for the Wii which is a pretty good game, even if I have to lose some of the mini-games on purpose from time to time. Unfortunalty though she doesn't like the Wii. She doesn't like the fact you have to concentrate on where you are holding the remote so much of the time, whereas on other systems you can hold the remote anywhere you want and sit anywhere you want in the room. Which to be honest is a very vaild complaint against the system.
N64 though is her system of choice so we started playing that a lot towards the end of the month. Mario Cart, Pokemon Stadium, and Smash Brothers mainly. She ordered a N64 off of Amazon and is just waiting for her controllers to come in. I will say I never remembered Mickey Mouse Raceway USA to be that difficult.. I guess I just need more practice.
I wonder if I should break out the Gamecube for her someday?
NCAA tournament was in March as always, my picks did horrible this year. In my family's team pick thing we do I won by picking Kansas back in Decemeber... however they only made it to the elite 8 so that tells you how good we all did. Butler is playing tonight for the championship... I'd like to see a team from Indiana win, but its kind of annoying seeing all of their "fans" come out of the woodwork again this year. Maybe I'm just a little jealous because Purdue isn't there.
As for my reading list I didn't get anything done on that
I did however do a good job at getting in to work out this month; at the end of February I joined Anytime Fitness in Greensburg and have been getting in there about 4 days a week on average. I want to get it up to 5 days everyweek... but stuff happens. I've been mostly running when I work out, I have my mile time down to 7:30 again which feels great... hope to hit 7 mins by the start of June. My big challenege is I need to start lifting weights, I'm just not into doing that right now but it'd be good for me.
My next project for blogs is a picture blog challenge that I have seen two people complete on facebook... problem is picture blogs are hard for me to do as evidenced by the fact that the February blog still doesn't have all of its pictures... and I'm behind 3 days already so we'll see if it gets done this month
